I’m Kat, a dedicated parent of three with a profound passion for perinatal mental health. Having transitioned from midwifery, I am now a Registered Psychotherapist. My extensive experience—over 10 years in perinatal health care and peer support—shapes my practice, which is rooted in anti-oppressive, inclusive, and culturally safe mental health approaches.

Drawing from Filipinx Liberation Psychology, I emphasize the importance of connectedness and shared humanity for a harmonious life. I am committed to providing a supportive, collaborative, and brave space where you can navigate the complexities of perinatal transitions and reconnect with your inner wisdom.

My areas of focus include: relational dynamics and disconnection, obstetric violence, birth trauma, racism and discrimination, grief and loss, blending families, sex and pleasure, and raising interracial children. Overall, I hope to help you reconnect with your embodied wisdom, restore trust in your innate ability to parent yourself, your children and/or your wider community.

Your story is important, and I am eager to understand where you are, the challenges you face, and the future you envision. It would be an honour to support you on this journey.

As a bisexual, genderqueer femme living with ADHD and chronic illness, I’ve committed my life to working with—and for—2SLGBTQI+, neurodivergent, and disabled folks. I have felt first-hand how cisheterosexism, ableism, and other systems of oppression can limit our choices, expressions, and relationships. My lifelong passion for social justice guides my practice, and I believe that therapy is best when it acknowledges how our friends and families, our culture, the environments we’re in, and the times we’re living through, have all shaped our experiences. Together, we’ll explore how to resist systems of oppression with creativity and attunement to you and your unique social ecosystem.

As a queer, trans, and neurodivergent therapist, I understand how hard it can be to find a therapist who understands what members of our communities go through. Instead of trying to change your authentic self to fit societal norms, we can work towards your individual goals, whatever your goals may be.

Life can be challenging and isolating, especially when parts of ourselves do not align with what is expected or deemed normal. My journey towards therapy started when I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that left me searching for compassion, meaning, and community. As a result, I have committed my practice to offering a safe space where people feel heard, supported, and valued.

I hold a Master’s in Health Studies that provided me with a unique perspective of the medical system and power structures that shape how we experience physical and emotional wellbeing. Having a Master’s in Educational Counselling has provided me with the tools to help clients challenge the beliefs that don’t serve them and instead connect with their truth and strength. I meet clients with an integrative approach that draws from Solution-Focused, Narrative, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies. These modalities create space for people to make meaningful change, tap into their resilience, and find sustained relief.

I primarily work with individuals, couples, relationships, and families navigating trauma, relational wounds, identity exploration, and intense emotional experiences. I am especially passionate about supporting survivors of sexual violence and gender-based violence, sex workers, those navigating complex trauma and attachment wounds, and individuals exploring sexuality, gender identity, spirituality, and cultural belonging. I also support clients experiencing emotional overwhelm, anxiety, depression, AD(H)D, perfectionism, rejection sensitivity, burnout, grief, loneliness, behavioural addiction, and relational challenges in intimacy and communication.

The core of my work is built upon the belief that emotions are powerful teachers of wisdom and empowerment. I honour emotional sensitivity and the felt sense as a strength, as an inner guide, and a skill that can be refined. I believe the more attuned we are with the language of our emotions, the more we’re able to trust ourselves, feel confident in who we are, and make choices that reflect our values and authenticity.

As we sit together in dialogue and presence, I hope you experience my warmth and non-judgement, deep care, and the safety of someone who genuinely believes in your capacity to heal, to reconnect, and to live a life that feels rich, alive, and full of meaning and joy.

My Approach to Therapy

I am a true integrative therapist at heart - I weave together somatic, narrative, dialogic, and collaborative approaches, drawing on a wide range of systemic and relational theories and practices to create a therapeutic relationship that is genuine and unique to you. You will not find me giving you advice or telling you what I think you “should” to do. I do not hold the answers to your life. What I do hold is a deep curiousity about you, and a commitment to following your self-leadership. Your voice, your pace, your vision for the change you desire to see in your life – these will guide our work together.

My work is influenced by trauma-informed, intersectional feminist, and anti-racist/anti-oppressive frameworks. I strive to practice in ways that honour cultural context, collective trauma, and the realities of systemic oppression, recognizing that these experiences profoundly shape our well-being, relationships, and sense of self. We do not exist in isolation from the systems we live within, and I believe true change must make space for both our personal experiences and our broader social realities that influence them.

Lastly, I practice from an embodied lens that honours the wisdom of the body and nervous system. Together, we may explore how emotions are held in the body, how patterns emerge through relationship and survival, and how safety, self-trust, intimacy, and emotional regulation can be nurtured and rebuilt over time.

My Education & Training Background

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master’s degree in Relational & Family Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with double minors in English Literature and Family Relations & Human Development.

My work is informed by training in:

• Relational, Systemic, Collaborative, Dialogic, Solution-Focused, and Narrative Therapies • Somatic Experiencing and Somatic Parts Work • Internal Family Systems (IFS) • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

As an integrative therapist, I draw from these approaches thoughtfully and flexibly, adapting our therapeutic conversation to your unique needs, strengths, and hopes for our work together.

Beyond academic studies, much more of what I have learned about healing and care have come from community, folk, and Indigenous perspectives around spirituality, queerness, land-based healing, cultural and ancestral connection, relationships, authenticity, and justice. I carry these teachings with deep gratitude and integrate them into my practice in honour of the people, communities, nature, and elders who have generously shared their wisdom with me in service of this work.

If you feel drawn to my approach, I welcome you to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, and I would be honoured to connect with you and explore whether we might be a good fit.

As a queer, disabled Iranian woman, I know what it’s like to move through the world carrying stories, identities, and wounds that don’t get the space they need to breathe. Whether you’re navigating intergenerational trauma, relationships, anxiety, or the weight of trying to belong somewhere- you don’t have to do it alone. In fact, you shouldn’t - much of the available research on good mental health outcomes tells us that healing is almost never achieved in a vacuum. Being in community with others is essential to your wellness, and learning how to be in community by following the lead of a kind and affirming therapist that understands the full extent of your nuances can be a transformative first step into the rest of your life.

I take a trauma- and social justice-informed approach that allows me to consider the impacts of the systems your stories exist within. My ability to think relationally and systemically using a post-modern lens allows me to see each client as a whole person and not just a problem to be “fixed” or defined by one narrative.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a graduate of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. My work is grounded in a deep respect for individual differences, providing a warm, non-judgmental, and person-centered space for those who feel overwhelmed or unsure of themselves. Having been diagnosed as AuDHD in my 40s (after many misdiagnoses), I have a lived understanding of the unique challenges facing neurodivergent individuals. I am particularly passionate about supporting late-diagnosed perimenopausal and menopausal women—an underserved population navigating significant biological and neurological shifts that I have embraced as a professional special interest.

I believe that life becomes more peaceful when we embrace what makes us “uncommon.” Using a trauma-informed lens, I help clients recognize that the coping strategies that once kept them safe may no longer be serving them, approaching this realization with compassion rather than judgment. My practice is built on the Rogerian tenets of unconditional positive regard, congruence, and empathy. I utilize an integrative and eclectic approach, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT, and Psychodynamic interventions to meet the specific needs of each individual.

As such, I view therapy as a collaborative space for curiosity and self-discovery. By integrating humor, intentional self-disclosure, and authenticity, I strive to help clients transform their differences into sources of strength and meaning. Whether you are neurodivergent or neurotypical, queer or straight, I offer the same authentic acceptance to all folks navigating their unique journeys toward wellness.

When I’m not in the office, I’m often immersed in sci-fi or fantasy worlds through books and video games, usually with one or more cats sprawled across my lap. As a lifelong visual artist, I bring creativity into all aspects of my life. I also make an effort to improve my relationship with food - I just discovered that oyster mushrooms (when deep-fried into oblivion) aren’t so bad!
